In celebration of our Iris Festival of Imagined Worlds on 9th February 2018, we are delighted to be launching a competition for schools! The Festival is themed around the fictional worlds of many different authors, and there will also be four distinct 'worlds' which visitors will be able to walk through and explore: J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis and Lewis Carroll.
We are looking for entries in the following categories:
Writing: write a short story or poem inspired by the fictional worlds of one of these four authors. It can be of any length.
Art: draw a picture inspired by the fictional worlds of one of these four authors. It can be any size and using pen, pencil, chalk or any other material.
D&T: create a replica object from the fictional worlds of one of these four authors. It can be any size and made out of any material (as long as it is is safe to display).
The deadline for entries is December 14th, 2017. There will be prizes for each category (entries will also be judged according to age) and every entry will be displayed at the Festival itself on 9th February.
Please get in touch with any questions about this competition - we look forward to your entries!
If you would like to involve your school by running a themed stall, activity or room at the Festival, please contact us on the address above with your idea and theme. We welcome schools wanting to run stalls and activities, and will accommodate as many as possible. The deadline for expressions of interest is October 31st, 2017.
