Moths at Cheney
We have done two surveys of moths on site with the expertise of Dr Liam Crowley from the University of Oxford.
In June 2025, as part of our Nature Late event, we discovered twelve species of moth: Black Arches (featured), Heart and Dart, Pine Hawk-moth, Box-tree Moth, Orange Pine Tortrix, The Uncertain, Barred Marble, Large Yellow Underwing, Garden Grass-moth, Common Pug, Common Plume, and Bud Moth.
In March 2026, as part of our Trees Conference, we discovered four species of moth: Hebrew Character, Small Quaker, Common Quaker and March Tubic.
